A unique named cafe PoTeaTo combination of the words ‘potato’ and ‘tea’ opened just a few doors away from Forty Hands and opposite Social Haus. The raw and rustic style eatery specialize in potato inspired dishes and variety of hot brewed teas, refreshing iced teas. Here you can find many potato in many forms, PoTeaTo Chips, Truffle fries, Shoestring fries, Garlic fries, Sweet potato fries or Wedges.

As there are really many choices of food in the Tiong Bahru Estate, my stomach only have enough space for the "must-try" Sweet Potato Fries. Somehow the oiliness of the fries reduced with the company of ice tea. Even though there isn't much publicity or as famous as other cafes in the estate, I felt that this eatery deserves some recommendation with the reasonable price and usual spotlight on potato.

Nom Nom .... Penny University

This cafe should be my outing with Juwind in January or even longer but somehow I can't seem to remember the month. Penny University taking its name from 18th century coffeehouses in London is the little charming rustic cafe we plan to visit before we wandered around in the east area.

I loved how they support and source coffee bean from local roasters and collaborate with local bakers such as Windowsill Pies that have just recently set up their permanent place. In store, we tested all the biscuits from the pop-up by My Lovebites and still can't decide what to get since they are all so yummy. I heard that recently the pop-up have changed to Ice Cream and Cookie Co that serve gourmet ice cream cookie sandwiches and this is a "must try" since they only sell online and do not have a permanent store.

I guess you have heard many good rave about this artisanal cafe and the convenience of the pick-me-up counter no wonder this place is already full house when we arrived in the early morning. Be sure to step in early if you do not miss the recommended cupcakes.

"For the price of a penny, one had access to coffee, the company of people from all levels of society, discussions, bulletins, newspapers and the latest gossip."

All thanks to my dear sis to be able to enjoy such delicious mille crepe cakes. I liked the idea of having a boutique and parlour in the same place, second floor is the parlour while the boutique on first floor. Pardon me for the few limited photos as there are restrictions set in the parlour but believe me you will like it here.

We have ordered swiss chocolate velvet and the other one is mango cheese since the cakes are almost all sold out for the day, but they are simply delicious.

Pique Nique attracted my attention with the lovely floral boxes and white interior decor. Food is nothing spectular but if you are looking for breaks inbetween meals, then this is a good place.
