Polkaros Pop Up + Drom Class

I know I know there was no post for a while. I was telling to myself perhaps no one was reading so how about a stop. I usually don't get excited over many things but this time just looking from Polkaros's blog is making me excited and looking forward to Polkaros Pop Up in Singapore.

Earlier on I was telling (or more like nagging) my friend Rehana that she must visit Polkaros Summer Pop Up at Sugar Town (Japan) and I must go if I am in Tokyo. Eventually Rehana didn't make it there but she sent me a postcard that make me even regretted not able to make it. Thanks to The Little Drom Store being one of my favourites, Ros came to Singapore !

Ps: Sorry for the weird size of the photos as all are taken by my iphone 6

Polkaros Pop Up

Polkaros hand crafted pots, clay brooches, tenugui, bags, and zines together with the adorable pompoms are so hard to give it a miss. I can still remember I have a copy of her zine with the tote bag not used on my shelve. This time I am not prepare to give the pot a miss this time even though my favourite was taken and most of them in store already have an owner :D

Drom class started in the cozy little treehouse of The Little Drom Store. What could be more therapeutical to sit down and paint on a raining night. With my best creativity I sketch a Teru teru bozu (てるてる坊主), Kokeshi, Bikini girl and lastly one that i could only sketch some parts here and there but not the facial expression.

All my classmate did very well with many good ideas and their pots are all so amazingly cute. Thank you Ros and Antoinette for giving me lots of idea and I guess I must be the worst in class. I painted without any sketches and at the end of the class, my piece turned out to be "Mr. Postman" or actually I wanted it to be a mailbox.

Given the fact that I have not much talent in drawing and painting, I eventually graduated from the class. I have much fun during the 2 hours Drom Class :)

The classes have ended but the pop up will still be on till 30 November so do drop by if you keen on getting some cute stuffs as Christmas gifts.

A Day In The Flower World : Afternoon Blossom

I am not missing :D just busy with a new interest that have been delayed too long. October was a hectic month and spending a leisure afternoon in workshop with Juwind is a luxury for me. Is so difficult to resist the charm of blooming flowers and these pretties sure cheer me up. Believe it or not, gosh just only into a 2 hours workshop, I have taken 200 photographs at least.

I had fun even joining in as an onlooker so for those seriously consider in learning something yet having fun at the same time, workshops here may be a good option.

Ps: I am so in love with the flowers, I've secretly took some home to press and hope to see good results :D

Flower Pressed

If you've noticed me been missing away from my blog yes you are totally right (*.*) Due to the haze I've started some new hobbies and as you can see from the photos, flower pressing is just one of them. Looking at the flowers, I hope to keep them as fresh and beautiful as ever but that wouldn't be possible therefore it struck my mind to start pressing some rather than wait for it to wilt.

Someone asked me what am I going to do with the pressed flowers and actually I do not know even though partial of them would be for card making and how about the rest ??

Sew Searching

(via press release)

Sew Searching is an exhibition about rejecting mass production. It features handmade plush toys and lifestyle products by local crafter, Sandy Ng of Cookie Cutter, and is curated by Yanda of Do Not Design.

In the face of cloned mails, machine regurgitated products and a prescribed route of convention, one treads a path fraught with challenges, when one does not want what many others do. This exhibition seeks to gather like-minded people to witness a journey of searching and the fruits of this search. It is an attempt to keep alive a creative community independent of huge corporations.

The exhibition will showcase plush toys, cushions, bags etc. culminated after 3 years of soul-searching, exploring and trying. They feature detailed handiwork as well as original and quirky designs which are the physical manifestations of a soul gradually freeing itself from the reins of convention while learning to imagine like a child. Each item is individually crafted out of a small workroom of a residential space. They are a form of self-expression and a way someone kept her head afloat the tsunami of commercialisation sweeping across our society. This theme of searching is also reflected in the installation of the exhibition, where a forest-like ambience is created with the use of branches.

Additionally, the exhibition features collaborations with seven local creatives who share our cause. Larry Peh of &Larry, Eeshaun, Kenny Leck of BooksActually, Jeremy Sherma, Holycrap, MessyMsxi and Darren Lee of Uniform each gave their own spin to a blank plush toy, to be showcased exclusively at the exhibition.

I be heading down later and hope to see you there too.

P/S : By the way, everything at the exhibition is available for sale (yes, even the furniture used)!

Dec Is Here .... The Christmas Pop Up Store

Sorry for the long post but I was super excited to visit The Christmas Pop Up Store after much waiting and anticipation. This was a flea market with yummy bakes, cool music + workshops and lots of goodies. I arrived earlier than the starting time to help out Juwind and friends as they have set up together in a little cosy room.

Scroll down the photos and you shall know why I was already left with no money by the 4th store I visit.

My all time favourite store "The Little Drom Store".

The Christmas Pop Up Store

This was the cosy room set up by Nong Jia Nu // Groopies // and their friends.

The Christmas Pop Up Store

I was totally fascinated by the flowers sold by "Thumbelina Petals" and can't help not to take more photos of them. Great Store :)

No need much recommendation, this popular store have the most YUMMYLICIOUS cakes and tarts by Sarah's Loft.

The Christmas Pop Up Store

I've read and followed the blog by HeyKumo and this was the store set up by Jotter Jotter x Hey Kumo selling very interesting handmade items and travel guides that I was so tempted to buy. If you miss out the pop store no worries, you can order online with free local delivery in December.

The Christmas Pop Up Store

If you've read my post sometime back, here "Drawn To Nostalgia" By Jacqueline O. selling the pretty totes, badges and postcards. I would like to purchase every single piece of the totes and hang up on my wall at home but I guess would have caused me a bomb too :(

(Hints : Start dreaming or my dear friends can start to buy me one each for Christmas, by the way I've bought the Kewpie ones)

The Christmas Pop Up Store

The handmade lavender pillows that I'll order for customization and the one-of-kind vintage cloth brooch as a gift for my crochet teacher by Chubby Bunny made me super excited.

The Christmas Pop Up Store

If I've more money to spend then The Paper Pan would be the stores. With the vintage stationery and knick knacks sourced around the world, how could a vintage junkie like me be cool.

The Christmas Pop Up Store

Drop by their shop in Rodyk Street for more goodies if you find that the range of cakes and biscuits by All good things in the pop up store was limited.

The Christmas Pop Up Store

This was the third time of the MessyMsxi's Breakfast Barter, I was happy to have previously joined once in The Public Garden in Old School. At that time, my drawing was lousy so this time I've come in preparation to spend more time and efforts on my drawings.

The Christmas Pop Up Store
