Singapore Night Festival 2012

Be prepared !  This is going to be a long and overdue post and I shall break the visits for various museum into separate posts. The night started late for us but the performance was even later than scheduled in the Peranakan Museum area. Huge crowds were already waiting excitedly for the performance on Armenian Street by the time we reached.

La Argentina presented by Argentinian group Ozono Producciones started with the moving crane holding aloft a dancer while musicians pound and strums on the musical instruments. She danced gracefully and as the music becomes faster she flew above our heads on the street *not kidding. I looked up in awe, busy snapping while totally enjoying the music, the flying dancer and the dropping confetti from above.

 

 

 

 

The performance was simply awesome so here's a video of a similar performance of their performance. It started a bit slow but please be patient and finish watching it, you would not regret :)

 

 

 

 

Corredoras a short performance started with two dancers dancing and somersaulting across a giant silver curtain.

 

 

Mylar my favourite of all performances was also presented by Ozono Producciones in a suspended 15 metre pool and the greatest part was that the audiences can stand below the pool and seeing the pool slowly descend to fingertip level was amazing. The four dancers slipped and slided in the see through pool of water.

 

 

 

Night Lights 2012 featured light installations around SAM and School Of The Arts (SOTA).

Distorted forest plays with the use of lights and shadows.

Mimoid II presents a constantly evolving architecture of a building where each transformation is based on the building's history and structure.

 

Night watch - 30 giant pairs of quirky animal eyes peer out from the corridors of SAM at 8Q, illuminating the night lights. We are rather hungry and tired by now.

Fish Tank at No.8 a rather big virtual aquarium with its giant red fishes.

 

Sis and me have attended past few years Night Festival and the event have been getting more bigger and more spectacular. We have no regrets spending long hours walking and standing in the humid weather, an applause to this year event.
